First Year: A Broad Timeline

Although you will be told which steps to take at each stage of the course, this timeline gives you a rough idea of the structure of the MLang during the first year of your degree!
October
Confirm with the MLang convenor that you will be doing the MLang degree scheme
November
Discuss study abroad options with Year Abroad tutors Isabelle (France) / Birgit (Germany) / Olga (Spain and Latin America)
December
Meet with current MLang students
Change of Programme form (if you haven’t directly applied for MLang)
Enrolled onto the DELC200 preparation module and MLang Year Abroad module
Enrolled onto the DELC320 dissertation module
January
Meeting with MLang convenor after registration onto the MLang
February
Start thinking about the universities where you will spend your study abroad placements (i.e. check out university websites, university course guides, options for university accommodation)
Have the option to start attending 2nd year grammar seminars (FREN201, GERM201)
March
Submit DELC320 Form A
Talk about Final Year modules
Year Abroad tutors notify universities that you wish to study there in the coming academic year
April
Continue checking out course guides and accommodation for the respective universities
Assigned Dissertation Tutor
May
Submit DELC320 Form B
June
Preparation course for YA
Receive and fill out YA consent form & wellbeing support form
Register for Erasmus + student
July
Apply for accommodation for first university placement
Start preparing for your Year Abroad!
